They were enjoying watching the ducks walk on what ice was left on the pond.  I remember their age typical discussion, that maybe they could walk on the ice too.  Of course their parents were right there explaining why they couldn’t do that.

For me this is the exact reason I love to photograph children in outdoor settings.  I just find that when they can walk around, interact and play, they either forget they are being photographed or are just relax because they can be themselves.  This allows me to capture shots that really represent who they are in that given moment.
